Tempeh is one of our must buy items in our weekly wet market shopping list. All of us in the family love eating tempeh because Kakak is so good in cooking it in different ways. Among all the recipes, deep fried is most popular at home as my kids just love it that way.
Deep Fried Tempeh
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 teaspoons ground coriander seed
8 candlenut (buah keras)
1 small piece of blue ginger (lengkuas)
5 Kaffir lime leaves (daun limau purut), cut into small slices
1 package tempeh, cut into thin square slices
2 cups vegetable oil for frying
Method:
1. spice paste: pound garlic, coriander seed, candlenut and blue ginger together.
2. combine flour with water, spice paste and lime leaves, mix until it becomes smooth thin batter.
3. dip tempeh into the batter and place them one at a time into a skillet of hot oil. Fry the tempeh until golden brown.
